Dear honourable guest Professor Daniel Shek, chairman Dr Li, supervisor Dr Lee, school managers, parents, teachers and students.

Last year was a special year in our school. We celebrated our 25th anniversary. On behalf of our teachers, parents and students, we are grateful for the generous donation of 1.22 million HK$ from our school’s sponsoring body the Hong Kong Ning Po Residents Association, to improve our school facilities which directly enhance our learning and teaching efficacy.

In regards to our performance in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), fourteen out of sixteen subjects have seen a passing rate of over 90%, which is above the Hong Kong average. Among these results, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Biology, Physics, History, Integrated Science and Mathematics (M1) have reached 100%. Former students Mr Wong Wai Chit, Raymond and Mr Liu Yu Cheung both attained the grades: two (Level 5*), one (Level 5) and two (Level 4).

Enhancing our students’ English capability is one of our major concerns. Apart from our standard English teaching practices, we have also managed to enrich the school’s English learning environment. Last year the English Reading Aloud and the English Songs Programme were very successful. This year we shall work on collaborating with students from international schools to improve the spoken English of our students through various activities.

The English Summer Camp (ELIC) was a further highlight of the year. During the camp, the students learned English through a variety of authentic mediums. As a result, I have no doubt that our students’ interest and desire to learn English have shown a marked level of improvement. I would therefore, like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to the school’s sponsoring body for subsidising the camp fee for the tenth consecutive year.

Last year’s slogan was ‘Positive Attitude’. It is always our educational goal to nurture a competent student with a positive attitude to life. Throughout the year, students learned the importance; moreover, the way, in which to nurture a positive mind through a variety of talks and activities.

Dear graduates, you are leaving our school today, your second home; however, let me make a point of telling you that, our school is always open to you. In the world outside there is no promise of eternal sunshine. There are numerous challenges and uncertainties awaiting you, you must be courageous and uphold your beliefs and faith.

Last but not least, and on behalf of our entire school, I would like to say a big thank you to Professor Shek for presiding over today’s ceremony. My sincere thanks also go to our school’s sponsoring body and school managers for their continued support of our school and its students. Our school is supported by devoted teachers, without whom, our school would find it hard to progress. Also, there are many alumni and parents here with us today - to them I say, thank you for coming back to your second home.
