Aims

The mathematics curriculum aims at developing in students:

  1. the ability to think critically and creatively, to conceptualize, inquire and reason mathematically, and to use mathematics to formulate and solve problems in daily life as well as in mathematical contexts and other disciplines;
  2. the ability to communicate with others and express their views clearly and logically in mathematical language;
  3. the ability to manipulate numbers, symbols and other mathematical objects;
  4. number sense, symbol sense, spatial sense and a sense of measurement as well as the capability of appreciating structures and patterns;
  5. a positive attitude towards mathematics learning and the capability of appreciating the aesthetic nature and cultural aspect of mathematics.

Total score (S.1 to S.3) : 200
Total score (Other math papers) : 100
The total score for each semester includes:
Paper 1 (short and long questions), Paper 2 (multiple choice) and formative assessment.
Formative assessment includes the scores of tests, class performance and project learning, etc.
