Speech Day celebrates not only the students’ achievement but also gives us the opportunity to consolidate aspirations for our students’ future.? I report with great respect for our team where wonders are created.? In last year’s HKCEE, we made history ?with an 86.2% passing rate of 5 subjects.? Full credit goes to the concerted efforts under Principal Tai’s able leadership , of our faculty and staff , students and parents.

The 21st century marks a new era of cultural diversity and economic globalization, with which many challenges arise.? I hope our students continue to realize our School Motto of “Persist with Virtuousness and Develop Perseverance ” (恆德弘毅) beyond the time they spend in our school.? The key to success is to persevere and endure in times of adversity.? Many failures are result of people giving up too early.? Few realize how close they were to success when they gave up.? We are often further hindered by our initial assumptions.? With creativity, we go beyond such self-inflicted constraints and find innovative alternatives.? The secret to creativity is to free up the clutter in ? our minds and think out of our boxes.?

When we begin to ?care for others, we transcend our inherent limitations.? Our book knowledge, skills and ability are inadequate in helping us connect to and thrive in today’s community.? Hence, we need to “Persist with Virtuousness,” to value ourselves and those around us, to do good in all we attempt, and always hold ourselves to high moral values. ?This spirit of “CARING” becomes in effect, “SHARING”.? Sharing of resources and expertise helped make our school a better one, and similarly, this force can improve our society and make the world a better place.??

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s reunification to Mainland China.??? In this “Era of the Dragon”, w e share our motherland’s glory and international limelight for her remarkable achievements . ?Through perseverance and selflessness of her people, China has been making major contribution to world peace and global economy.? The next challenge for our students is to build a healthy sense of belonging and national identity. ?Your success in “caring and sharing” in society is the best testimony of the education you have received here.? Make us proud!
